About Ezra’s Emerald

Ezra's Emerald, lovingly named after Ezra, Neti's cat, was created in 2021.

The Kemetic Plant Shop began during the Covid-19 pandemic after recognition that existing plant shops in Atlanta did not highlight the intersections between environmental health, and houseplants. Despite the rise in houseplant purchases during the pandemic, no one was connecting human health, environmental health and houseplants.

Ezra's Emerald seeks to recognize this connection and directly engage customers from this intersection by cultivating the relationship between humans and their environment, one houseplant at a time.

By stimulating intrigue in houseplants and their environmental and human health benefits, this shop hopes to engage customer awareness of both the restorative and built environment around us. In doing so, this shop hopes to advance the climate agenda and bring a little more green into people’s lives, both sustainably and creatively.

What does Kemetic mean?
It is the original word for holistic and signifies coexistence. The ancient land of Kemet, the “Black land,” now present-day Egypt, was said to be the original home of Black people. The Kemetic principles of this land are referred to as the seven principles of Ma’at.

They are as follows: Righteousness, Reciprocity, Harmony, Balance, Truth, Justice, & Order.
